Library & Resource Centre
The Villanova College Library supports the curriculum needs of students and teachers and promotes the joy of reading and learning among the members of our community. We provide fiction and research books in print, electronic and audio formats, films, magazines and newspapers and assistance with projects.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in information literacy sessions offered by our librarian. Universities in the 21st century require students to be able to research efficiently in a variety of formats, and it is essential to equip them with the skills to locate relevant information and evaluate its value.
Middle School students visit the library as a class once every eight-day cycle, while Upper School students come down to work on assignments and receive help with research projects. Students love the library’s bright, warm atmosphere and you will often find them here on their free time checking out books, working individually on homework, collaborating on a project, or curled up by the fireplace with a novel.
Studies show that students who possess strong reading skills are more successful in other areas of their education as well, and in their future career paths. The written word also allows them to open their minds to the wider world and explore other ways of thinking about it. It is our hope that students develop a love of reading and become life-long learners as a result.
