Villanova graduating student Arielle Tessier has made a verbal commitment to continue her studies at Yale University, a private Ivy League post-secondary research institution in New Haven, Conn.
An outstanding academic student maintaining a 96 per cent average throughout high school, and acclaimed sprinter on Canada’s National team, Tessier received interest from almost 50 colleges and universities in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Among the group were all eight schools in the Ivy League. She was also on the recruiting list of many Canadian schools.
Tessier chose Yale, a member of the Eastern Conference Athletic Conference (ECAC) after her top five choices also included Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania.
On the track, Tessier has had remarkable success as a sprinter in track and field. She was a member of the 2015 Team Canada squad that competed at the World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia. Also, a three-time, member of Team Ontario,
Tessier was dominant on the high school track scene. Twice she won gold medals in the sprints at the Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association (OFSAA) championships and has a combined 11 more medals at the Metro Regional and Conference of Independent School (CISAA) finals.
