Vito Giovanetti '10

Vito's leadership was apparent when he first entered Villanova College in grade 9. He immersed himself in all aspects of the school: academics, cross country running, debate, and student council. Vito demonstrated a passion for service, history, and leadership, and he was one of five in the Class of '10 who were successful in their applications to Schulich School of Business. Upon graduation from York University with a BBA in Strategic Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship, Vito went to the University of Windsor's Odette School of Business and achieved his MBA. Today, he is the Chief Executive Officer of Treasured, his entrepreneurial venture with his partner, Nikita Varabei, that "helps heritage organizations to create online exhibitions and publish them in immersive 3D Museums."

"I have combined my business acumen, love of history and storytelling, and technology to create meaningful online showrooms."

Vito's entrepreneurial zeal developed in his second year of studies when he became involved with the York Sports Business Association. He rose the ranks in the association from second-year representative to Director of Marketing to Association President. His many university activities and societies, such as Schulich Future Skills Conference and Bright Ideas Case Competition, showcased his expertise in strategic management and company formation.

Upon graduating from the University of Windsor, Vito returned to Schulich, launching and spearheading three programs: LaunchYU (a two-day workshop for early-stage ventures); the Schulich Entrepreneurial Alumni Association (SEAA) (of which he is Chapter President); Schulich IDEAJAM (host) and the Schulich Startups podcast series (co-host).

However, Vito is most passionate when he speaks of two projects that his company Treasured completed this past year and a half.

"We just finished a project with King Heritage and Cultural Centre, where we helped the museum to address the restrictions of Covid-19 so they can engage their audience in the comfort of their homes through a digital exhibit called Stories of King. We also collaborated with the Center for American War Letters at Chapman University, as they curated a collection of correspondences from the Vietnam War and embedded it in their existing website. It has provided the museums with the opportunity to reach a larger and wider audience and to overcome the overhead of purchasing and endowing a physical space for the artifacts."

Vito's success has been featured in the Globe and Mail, New York Times, and on the CBC. He also was featured as Global Innovator at Roots Tech 2020 in Salt Lake City.

Vito currently sponsors the Vito Giovannetti Sr. History Award for the Villanova graduate who holds the combined highest average in grades 11 and 12. He will be conducting a virtual seminar for budding Villanova College entrepreneurs this fall.

When asked what he valued most about his time at Villanova College, he said, "Villanova is not just an education but an experience." He expressed that Villanova's legacy lies in "its expectations; its ability to embrace global change and its ability to do so through Augustinian-Catholic values."
