Nicole Caggiano '10

When Nicole left Villanova College for McMaster University on a soccer scholarship and with a passion for history, she did not anticipate a PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) injury to sideline her. However, Nicole used the tenacity she demonstrated in her championship days with the 2012 team, and she pivoted, without injury this time, changing her educational and professional game into success.

In her second year of undergrad, Nicole transferred all her credits to Fashion Business at Humber College. The expression “the right place at the right time” applies to Nicole, as a walk to a colleague’s car led to Nicole being encouraged to use her talents in the field of Information Technology. In soccer terms, Nicole executed a Diagonal Cruyff that has led to a seven-year career as an account manager with NCX Inc in Richmond Hill and three years as Director of Business Development at Cojilio.

At NCX Inc, Nicole focused on the development of custom enterprise software that facilitates booking systems for consumer companies such as Amazon, Lowes, Canada Post and the hospitality and beauty service space industries. Nicole has most recently been involved and is achieving a patent for the Cojilio App, a booking software that minimizes the manual, repetitive work associated with managing appointments and schedules. Wanting to provide a ready to go solution in business automation, Nicole began work on this app in 2017. Two years later, she had a spotlight feature in Blog TO when a hair salon in Aurora began using the app. In 2020, Clover partnered with Cojilio, and most recently, Nicole presented the software at NODO Liberty Village. From here, Nicole will continue to promote the system and hopes to take it worldwide.

Nicole’s credits Villanova College’s value for community in the development of her business practices, “I played on the soccer teams from 2010 to 2012. We were tight knit, and you knew everyone’s name.” So tightknit that Nicole continues to play house league soccer with ’10 classmates Dino Brancatella, Vito Giovanetti, and Jaclyn Casey. They still have their championship spirit, winning their league in the summer or 2021.

When Nicole is not branding software and playing soccer, she is baking focaccia, a hobby she developed during the pandemic. Check out her prize loaves in the picture to the left!
