Guided Learning Program

Our Guided Learning Program provides identified students the necessary supports and accommodations to achieve their academic potential. The Guided Learning Centre is a designated classroom that provides students a separate quiet space to write tests and exams with accommodations, work on in-class assignments, meet with the Guided Learning staff and receive support. Students who are part of the program learn and develop strategies to support them in areas such as reading, writing, math, time management, organization, and studying, and will gradually learn how to become self-sufficient learners who have confidence in their ability to achieve their goals. In grade 9 and grade 10, students in the Guided Learning Program, will earn the GLS 1O and GLS 2O credits.

Mission Statement

The Student Services Department focuses on providing programs, information, and strategies to help students reach their social, emotional, and academic potential. Through classroom visits, information evenings, individual counselling, and visits from university representatives, students and parents are guided through the postsecondary process.

The VC Experience

The Guided Learning Centre at VC assisted me throughout Middle and Upper School. This program helped me to understand my learning disability and the strategies that work best for me in class. The teachers in the GLC are great; they push you to work hard and really want you to succeed. If it were not for the GLC, I would not be the student that I am today.
